Mark Houghton has been teaching Classical, Jazz and electric guitar styles for over 30 years. Commencing teaching duties at Liverpool Guitar Studio in 1985, he has continued for many years with private teaching, entering pupils for exams, up to and including, diploma level performance.

As a Winner of two competition prizes for composition (Chris Kilvington Memorial Prize, 2000 and CGML Composition Prize, Brazil, 2007) plus 2nd Prize Isan International Guitar Festival and Competition, Korat, Thailand, Mark specializes in teaching composition, Song-Writing, music theory and tuition in Music Typography - using Finale and Sibelius typesetting software packages.
Mark is a registered member of both the Registry of Guitar Tutors and the European Guitar Teachers Association (EGTA).
